When and where does the Terre di Pisa Bike Trail Ride take place?

The Terre di Pisa Bike Trail Ride will take place on 18 April at 11.00 am, setting off from Giardino Scotto, as part of the three-day Terre di Pisa Bike Days event.

What does the race pack include?

The race pack includes:

  • a race number to attach to your bike
  • 2 vouchers to use at the refreshment stations
  • a designer cycling cap, designed as a souvenir of the event
  • a water bottle
Where can I rent a gravel bike or MTB?
What refreshment stops are planned during the event?

There will be two refreshment stops. The first will take place at an olive oil mill, where you can sample olive oil, olive pâté and jams produced by the mill, as well as pasta and handmade chocolate. The second stop will be at a beach club at the end of the event, where we will raise a glass together as the sun sets.

Is the road closed to traffic?

No. The route will remain open to traffic at all times, so all participants must comply with the Traffic Laws.

Is there a time limit for completing the trail?

Yes, the maximum time allowed to complete the trail is 8 hours.

The refreshment stops will always be open?

No, the refreshment stops will be open for a limited time.

  • First stop at the oil mill: from 12.30 pm to 2.30 pm
  • Second stop by the sea: from 5.00 pm to 8.00 pm
Is the route signposted?

No, the route will not be signposted. Participants will need to follow the GPX track – which will be sent out a couple of days before the event – using their own GPS devices or smartphones.

What happens if I decide to retire?

In this case, the participant must make their own way back to their hotel or the departure point.

Can I park my bike safely when I stop?

Both refreshment stations will have a designated area for bicycle parking.
While we cannot guarantee 100% security—since these are private locations staffed by personnel—we consider these areas to be reasonably safe.

Will there be guides present during the event?

Where is the starting point?

The starting point is at Giardino Scotto, as part of the Terre di Pisa Bike Days event, organized by the team behind the Italian Bike Festival.

Where and when can I pick up the starter pack?

Race kits will be available for pickup:

  • on the morning of the event, up to one hour before the start (11:00 a.m.)
  • April 17, at the Terre di Pisa booth, during the Terre di Pisa Bike Days opening hours
When does registration close?

Registration closes at 11 a.m. (CET) on April 18, 2026.

How do I sign up?

Which sports membership card is valid?

Italian participants who are members of a sports association (A.S.D.) affiliated with the FCI, UCI, ACSI, CSAIN, CSI, or UISP must present their membership card and send a copy in advance to ciclizapier@gmail.com before the event registration deadline. Those who are not members of any sports club at the time of event registration may still register by purchasing insurance for an additional €10.

How many routes are planned?

The event features a single gravel route of approximately 99 km, with an elevation gain of 500 m.

Do I need a medical certificate to participate?

Yes. All participants are REQUIRED to submit to the organizers a valid competitive cycling medical certificate, in accordance with Ministerial Decree 24/04/2013, issued by a Sports Medicine Center or a licensed physician.

The certificate must be valid until after April 18, 2026.

Is there a shuttle service from the beach to the starting point?

No, there is no shuttle service. The beach is about 12 km from downtown Pisa, a distance that’s easy to cover by bike on the way back into town.
